What Is Truth Tellers?
Truth Tellers is The Express Truth Show’s audience phone-in programme, hosted by Mark and Steven. The format puts the community at the centre of the show by opening the lines and allowing callers to speak directly, challenge opinions, share experiences and give their own perspective on the topics being discussed.
Running for around four years, Truth Tellers has become an established part of The Express Truth platform and an early example of the independent Black British online phone-in format in this space. Rather than the audience simply watching the hosts discuss an issue, Truth Tellers gives people the opportunity to enter the conversation themselves.
The Purpose
Truth Tellers exists to give the audience a voice. Mark and Steven can introduce the subject and give their views, but the direction of the programme can change completely once the phone lines open. Different generations, backgrounds and viewpoints can meet in the same conversation, creating genuine debate rather than an echo chamber.
Four Years Of Community Conversation
The show has been running for around four years and has built its identity through real conversations with real people. That history is important to the format: Truth Tellers was built around community participation long before phone-in content became a more common feature of independent online media. The next stage is to make the programme a much more frequent part of The Express Truth schedule.
Why Truth Tellers Is Different
The unpredictability of a live caller is what makes Truth Tellers different. There is no guarantee that a caller will agree with Mark, Steven or the previous caller. That creates genuine moments of disagreement, agreement, humour, personal experience and debate that cannot be scripted in advance.

Truth Tellers represents the community voice within The Express Truth’s Premium Black Media identity. Premium Black Media is not only about speaking to the audience; it is also about listening to them. Truth Tellers creates a direct line between the platform and the people who support, watch and participate in it.
